Spotlight Our Long Term Residents!
When adopting from a shelter, we know the decision is hard - there's so many to choose from, and everyone deserves a home! But we ask, when searching for a new addition to the family, to consider a long term resident. Often these pets are overlooked due to their looks, age, or how they portray themselves in the kennel space.

About Yakootah
Yakootah came to the shelter as a stray in May of last year; 2024. She also brought along all of four of her little babies! After spending some time in our makeshift maternity ward, Yakootah and her children were ready to be put up for adoption. Yak' was a great mother, who raised four super sweet and silly children. It didn't take long for her kids to find their fur-ever homes; Yakootah made sure to see each of them off with their families. Now, she's been patiently waiting for her turn in finding her fur-ever home. Like with any long term animal in a shelter, she does have a few quirks - this comes from living in a kennel for months. But she is a sweet, sassy little lady; and even though she was a young mom, she didn't let that take away her kitten spirit! She loves to play and get all of the chin scratches we have to offer. This pretty girl will definitely liven up your home and keep everyone entertained!

About Lavender
Lavender is a sweet, active girl that loves attention! She is super lovable and loves to go on walks and play in the play yard. It took her no time at all to win over our staff and volunteers hearts with her silly disposition. Lavender does chase cats, so a home without cats would be best for her. Lavender may be too much for small children, so an age restriction for children in the home may apply - please discuss this with shelter staff.
Residents who have been in the shelter for long periods of time can exhibit stress in many different ways - for miss Lavender, it was weight loss and a decline in activity. With Lavenders best interest in mind, we decided to move her from the Adoption Floor back over to Isolation - which is quiet and non accessible by public visitation. This seemed to help our girl tremendously; she began to regain weight and was back to her goofy, bouncy self! Staff and volunteers alike have nothing but good things to say about miss Lavender, and we hope this year our #1 Girl will finally find her fur-ever home!
