Spotlight Our Long Term Residents!
When adopting from a shelter, we know the decision is hard - there's so many to choose from, and everyone deserves a home! But we ask, when searching for a new addition to the family, to consider a long term resident. Often these pets are overlooked due to their looks, age, or how they portray themselves in the kennel space.

About Scoop
When Scoop first arrived to the shelter, he was basically a shell of a cat. He would lay in the back of his kennel under a towel all day and night, almost catatonic. He remained in this state for weeks. With daily encouragement from staff, Scoop finally began coming out of his shell. One day we came in and he wasn't under his blanket, he was waiting for his morning pets out in the open!
We couldn't be more proud of Scoops' progress - going from such a fearful, frozen boy to a loud, social guy always ready to tap on visitors legs. We can find him more often than not rubbing against his kennel bars and demanding us to stop and give him a scratch. Scoop is a great example of overcoming hardships, and we hope his future family sees him as the amazing and special boy he is!
About Beach Bag
Beach Bag came to us during one of the hottest days in summer - brought in a crate with another female cat and a whole swarm of kittens! Beach Bag was a very sweet girl right from the start; she loves to play, and you can find her most days taking a nap right on her back! Even though she was a mom at a young age, she's still plenty kitten - her favorite toy is the rainbow wand! Beach is one of our longest kitty residents; we'd like to think she stuck around so long to see off each of her babies to their fur-ever homes, and now she's ready for her turn.
If you're looking for a goofy, playful girl who can keep you entertained all day long, then Beach Bag is the girl for you!
About Lavender
Lavender is a sweet, active girl that loves attention! She is super lovable and loves to go on walks and play in the play yard. It took her no time at all to win over our staff and volunteers hearts with her silly disposition. Lavender does chase cats, so a home without cats would be best for her. Lavender may be too much for small children, so an age restriction for children in the home may apply - please discuss this with shelter staff.
Residents who have been in the shelter for long periods of time can exhibit stress in many different ways - for miss Lavender, it was weight loss and a decline in activity. With Lavenders best interest in mind, we decided to move her from the Adoption Floor back over to Isolation - which is quiet and non accessible by public visitation. This seemed to help our girl tremendously; she began to regain weight and was back to her goofy, bouncy self! Staff and volunteers alike have nothing but good things to say about miss Lavender, and we hope this year our #1 Girl will finally find her fur-ever home!
