Spotlighting Our Longest Residents!
- We know choosing a pet from a shelter isn’t easy—there are so many wonderful animals, all deserving of a loving home.
- As you search for your new family member, we kindly ask you to consider one of our long-term residents. These pets are often overlooked—not because they lack love to give, but because of their age, appearance, or how shy or nervous they may seem in the kennel environment.
- Given a chance, these hidden gems can become the most loyal, loving companions. All they need is someone willing to look beyond first impressions and see the heart underneath!

Meet Wendy Whiner — A Loving Girl Who’s Missing Her Home
Wendy Whiner is a familiar face here at the shelter, though we wish the reason for her return had been different. Wendy was previously adopted into a loving home where she was deeply cherished by her dad. Unfortunately, when his landlord changed the lease agreement, pets were no longer allowed, and he was faced with the heartbreaking decision to bring her back. It was a very emotional goodbye — one that showed just how loved Wendy truly is.
When Wendy first returned, it was clear she was feeling the loss. For the first few weeks she mostly stayed tucked beneath her blanket, only popping out for meals or a quiet drink of water. But little by little, she has started to find her confidence again. Now you’ll often see her peeking out to greet visitors or happily welcoming the staff she recognizes, though she can still be a bit reserved while she settles back into shelter life.
Wendy is a wonderful cat who loves gentle pets, cozy cuddles, and batting around her favorite little mouse toys. She’s not a fan of vet visits or medical-looking spaces — they make her a bit nervous — but in a calm, loving home she truly shines. She previously lived as the only pet, so we’re unsure how she would feel about sharing her space, but we do know she has a whole lot of love to give. Wendy has already known what it’s like to have a home and someone who adores her — and she’s patiently waiting for the day she can have that again. 🐾

Meet Bruno — A Special Boy Looking for His Special Someone
We have to talk about Bruno — because once you meet him, you never forget him. Bruno is a special boy who is looking for a very special home (or an approved rescue) willing to see just how incredible he truly is. He is blind and has a unique, wobbly way of walking due to a neurological condition, but that doesn’t stop him from living life with joy. Bruno’s whole world changed when he was surrendered to the shelter after his owner could no longer care for him, and at first, he was understandably confused and unsure. But with time, patience, and love, Bruno has found his footing — and his personality has absolutely blossomed.
Bruno is, without a doubt, the baby of the shelter and a favorite among staff and volunteers. He loves going on adventures with our senior volunteers, attending events, and soaking up every bit of attention he can get. He has a special love for brightly colored balls, happily prancing around and playing with his people. And if you’re nearby, you’ll know it — Bruno is famous for his sweet kisses, often licking the air until he finds you. Despite being blind, he enjoys his walks and gets around surprisingly well with a little guidance from his humans.
Bruno will need a patient, understanding home that’s ready to support his needs and help him continue to thrive. He would do best in an adult-only home, and if there are other animals, he’ll need to be fed separately since he can be protective of his food — something that makes perfect sense given that he can’t see what’s around him. Since arriving on May 16, 2025, Bruno hasn’t received a single application. We understand that adopting a special needs dog can feel like a big commitment, but Bruno gives back tenfold in love, joy, and companionship. He’s still a young guy with so much energy, personality, and endless entertainment to offer — all he needs is someone willing to open their heart and give him the chance he’s been waiting for. 🐾

Meet Meadow — Still Waiting for Someone to Notice Her
Meadow has been with us since May 16, 2025, and as she approaches a full year at the shelter, we can’t help but wonder how she’s been overlooked for so long. She came to us as a stray with a litter of kittens and proved to be a calm, devoted, and easygoing mom. When her babies were old enough, they were quickly adopted and went home almost immediately — while Meadow stayed behind, still waiting for someone to notice her. In all this time, she hasn’t received a single application.
Meadow is a shy, independent girl who enjoys life at her own pace. She’s not one to demand attention, but she does enjoy gentle pets on the back of her head and along her back. She can be a bit wary of hands and gets overwhelmed if there’s too much stimulation at once, which is understandable after spending so long in a busy shelter environment. With so many cats in our care, it’s hard to give each one constant, undivided attention — and for a quieter cat like Meadow, that can make it even harder for her to shine. That said, we’ve started to see little glimpses of her softer side — she absolutely loves her cozy bed, and recently she’s even begun making biscuits when staff and volunteers give her gentle attention.
But there is so much potential in this beautiful girl. In a calm, patient home — especially one with older children who understand her need for space — Meadow could truly blossom into a devoted companion. She’s spent so much of her life taking care of others or simply getting by, and we would love nothing more than for her to finally learn what it means to be spoiled and unconditionally loved. All she needs is someone willing to see her, give her time, and let her come out of her shell. 🐾
