Spotlighting Our Longest Residents!
- We know choosing a pet from a shelter isn’t easy—there are so many wonderful animals, all deserving of a loving home.
- As you search for your new family member, we kindly ask you to consider one of our long-term residents. These pets are often overlooked—not because they lack love to give, but because of their age, appearance, or how shy or nervous they may seem in the kennel environment.
- Given a chance, these hidden gems can become the most loyal, loving companions. All they need is someone willing to look beyond first impressions and see the heart underneath!

Meet Sprite - Missing a few teeth, not missing any love
Sprite came to us as a stray, and while we don’t know much about her past, we do know this: she’s a gentle, kind soul who deserves the quiet, loving home she’s been waiting far too long for. Now about 4 years old, Sprite has officially become our longest resident—and we can’t help but wonder how someone hasn’t scooped her up yet. She’s missing a few teeth, sports a charming little tongue that likes to peek out whenever it pleases, and has a lazy eye that gives her a permanently curious expression. She may be a bit “weird looking” in the very best way—but her sweetness more than makes up for it.The shelter environment isn’t Sprite’s favorite. She’s shy and reserved here, preferring naps, peaceful window-watching, and quietly soaking in the presence of her humans. Given time and patience, she shows all the signs of becoming a wonderful lap cat and a loyal best friend—she just needs someone willing to let her open up at her own pace.Sprite would do best in a calm, quiet home where she can be the only pet and simply enjoy being loved. If you’re someone who believes the most special cats are the ones who need a little extra understanding, Sprite may be the perfect companion you didn’t know you were missing. She’s been waiting patiently. All she needs now is someone to choose her.
Meet Padme — The Ultimate Mama Who’s Ready to Be the Baby
Padme came to us as a stray, and while we initially believed she was around 2 years old, it’s now clear she’s either older than we thought or has simply endured more than her fair share of street life. Despite that, when she arrived, she was already doing one of the hardest jobs there is: being a mom.She came in with her own two tiny babies and took exceptional care of them, showing just how gentle, loving, and devoted she truly is. And then, when two orphaned kittens arrived with no mom and no available fosters, Padme stepped up in the most incredible way. Without hesitation, she welcomed them as her own. She didn’t just raise two kittens — she raised four, giving each of them the love, care, and security they needed to grow strong and confident.Every one of her babies has since found their fur-ever home. Padme? She’s still here, patiently waiting. Now that her mom duties are done, Padme is ready for a life where she gets to be cared for. She’s missing a good portion of her teeth and has a slightly cloudy left eye — quiet reminders of a life that likely wasn’t easy — but none of that has dimmed her sweet spirit. She’s affectionate, enjoys playtime, and truly loves human attention. After spending so long in the shelter, she can be a little shy at first, but that just means she needs a little time and patience to feel safe. With a loving home, room to play, and someone who dotes on her the way she’s always doted on others, Padme will absolutely blossom. She’s already given so much love in her life. All she’s waiting for now is someone to give it back to her.
Meet Timber — Our Gentle Explorer
Timber is the kind of dog who makes you slow down and appreciate the little things. Whether he’s watching the world go by from the window or trotting happily down a wooded trail, there's a quiet joy about him that’s simply contagious.Found wandering a state park, Timber came to us with a few stories we’ll never know, but he’s made it clear he’s ready to write a new chapter — one filled with love, soft beds, and as many car rides as you can offer. Seriously, Timber lives for a good ride with the windows down and the breeze in his fur.At about 6 years old and 65 pounds, Timber is a calm, gentle soul with a playful streak. He enjoys his walks (especially in nature), playing with his toys, and relaxing with his favorite people. He’s also been a great companion on group walks with other dogs and has done well at adoption events — friendly but laid-back, just like he is with people. He’s even growing the sweetest little gray hairs, and it only makes him more distinguished.Timber recently tested positive for Lyme disease, but he’s responding well to antibiotics. He doesn’t let it slow him down — you’d never guess from his happy wiggles (tail or no tail!) and zest for the simple pleasures in life.Because he appreciates a calm, respectful environment, Timber would do best in a home with older children. More than anything, he deserves a place where he can spend his golden years being truly loved and spoiled — something he hasn't quite had yet. He’s a staff and volunteer favorite here at the shelter, and it’s easy to see why. Timber is more than a good boy — he’s a great one. And he’s so ready to find his forever.
