Love animals? Have a little extra time—or maybe just need a fuzzy break from life? Come lend a hand to homeless pets who could really use a friend. Your kindness can change their whole world.
Overview
Our shelter relies on caring, dependable volunteers to support our animals and staff. Whether it’s helping socialize animals, assisting with grounds work, or supporting daily operations, volunteers play a vital role in keeping our shelter running smoothly.

1. Age Requirements
- Volunteer age requirements vary by position
- Volunteers under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian
- With parent or guardian permission, teens may volunteer independently in approved roles
- For safety and liability reasons, minors may not work directly with dogs
2. Getting Started
- Once your application is approved, you’ll schedule an orientation with our Volunteer Coordinator. During orientation, you will:
- Tour the shelter
- Review your volunteer role and responsibilities
- Learn safety procedures
- Get an introduction to working with our animals
Orientation is designed to be welcoming and informative, with plenty of time for questions.
3. Scheduling & Commitment
Volunteer shifts are scheduled in advance to balance daily animal care with adoption appointments, which are always our top priority. Let the Coordinator know your availability, and we’ll work to find a schedule that fits.

- Stay active
- Communicate regularly with the Volunteer Coordinator
If a volunteer has been inactive and/or has not communicated with the Coordinator for two months, their volunteer status will be removed. In that case, a new application and orientation will be required.

If you are in need of Community Service (court ordered, school, etc.) please go to the Community Service page and complete your form there
Adult Volunteer
If you are volunteering on your own, complete the form as usual. If you are coming with another adult, you may list their name in the section provided for the Coordinator.
Each adult must complete their own form.
Volunteer w/ Minors
Volunteers under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who is 18 years or older. The adult should complete the volunteer form and include the minor’s name and age in the section provided.
Business/Organization Volunteers
When completing this form, please follow the instructions and list the primary contact person we will be communicating with.
