Greeters
How This Helps CVAS
It is a huge help to the office staff - they help offload additional work from the office girls, providing them more time to get adoptions processed and animals home!
Goals
Speaking to the public, going over adoption information and benefits, and spreading the shelters goals and mission
Responsibilities
- Handling applications, going over shelter information
- Taking visitors back to view residents
- Communicating clearly with the community on shelter information, general questions, etc.
Community & Connection
Our Greeters serve as the heart of our shelter’s first impression. They are the friendly faces who welcome every visitor, offer guidance, and help create a warm, inclusive atmosphere for the community. Greeters connect with people from all walks of life—families meeting their future pets, individuals seeking support, and community members eager to get involved.
Comfortable conversations, a welcoming presence, and a genuine love for helping others are key to this role. Whether escorting guests to the adoption area, assisting with simple paperwork, or helping prepare for events, Greeters make the shelter feel inviting, organized, and people-centered. They help create the positive experiences that bring visitors back again and again.

Valued Support
Greeters are also an indispensable part of the shelter’s overall operations. By assisting visitors quickly and kindly, they reduce the workload on office staff—allowing the team to focus on critical shelter needs such as animal care, adoptions, and essential administrative work. Without our Greeters, the office becomes stretched thin, and the shelter’s ability to run smoothly is significantly impacted.
From managing light organizational tasks to directing traffic during busy hours, Greeters help ensure that no visitor is left waiting and no staff member is overwhelmed. Their support keeps the shelter moving efficiently and allows more time, resources, and attention to be dedicated to the animals who need us most.
Greeters communicate through their own dedicated email chain and coordinate directly with the Volunteer Coordinator, ensuring everyone stays connected and prepared. Their role is vital—and deeply appreciated.
